Kalidou Koulibaly Joins Napoli: “No Doubts About My Choice”
Kalidou Koulibaly has officially begun a new chapter in his career, joining Serie A side Napoli after two seasons with Belgian club Genk. The 23-year-old central defender was unveiled to the media this Saturday, where he spoke about his decision to sign for the Italian club.
“I received many offers,” Koulibaly admitted during the press conference. “But when I got the call from [then-manager] Rafa Benitez, everything became simple. When a prestigious club like Napoli expresses interest, there are no doubts.”
The Senegalese international has signed a five-year deal with Napoli, underlining the club’s long-term faith in his potential. Known for his strength, composure, and tactical awareness, Koulibaly’s arrival is seen as a significant addition to Napoli’s defensive ranks.
His move to Italy marks a major step forward in his career. Koulibaly had impressed at Genk, where he made over 60 appearances, catching the attention of several European clubs. However, it was Napoli’s firm interest and Benitez’s personal intervention that ultimately convinced the defender to make the move to Serie A.
Koulibaly joins a Napoli side aiming to re-establish itself among Italy’s elite and push for honours domestically and in Europe. His addition is expected to strengthen the club’s back line, providing depth and quality ahead of a demanding season.
The young defender now looks forward to settling in Naples and contributing to the club’s ambitions, as he continues his steady rise on the European football stage.
