It’s a tale of joy and horror in Naples.
The joyous occasion was Naples’ victory in the Italian Cup final against Fiorentina, securing a 3-1 win. However, amidst the celebration, a Neapolitan fan was tragically struck by a bullet, resulting in serious injury. His condition remains critical, casting a shadow over the festivities.
The match itself was delayed by three-quarters of an hour due to the unfortunate incident. Tensions ran high, particularly in the northern stand where Neapolitan supporters were gathered, upon hearing the news of the fan’s injury. Fortunately, the intervention of Neapolitan captain Marek Hamsik played a crucial role in restoring calm to the situation.
On the field, Naples clinched victory thanks to a brace from Lorenzo Insigne (11th, 16th minute) and a late counterattack goal from Dries Mertens (90+3). Fiorentina managed to pull one back through Juan Manuel Vargas (27th minute).
