Nanu: AEL Limassol linked with move for APOEL’s Guinea-Bissau-Portuguese full-back

Guinea-Bissau-Portuguese right-back Nanu of APOEL Nicosia is being linked with a switch to Cyprus League rivals AEL Limassol, with the 32-year-old defender potentially available as a free agent.

The experienced full-back, whose market value is listed at €300k, is the subject of fresh speculation on 6 June 2026 after Cypriot sources connected AEL with a move across the island. The probability of the transfer remains unclear, with the rumour currently tagged only as “?”.

Nanu, full name Eulânio Ângelo Chipela Gomes, has no publicly listed contract expiry date at APOEL, fuelling suggestions that his deal may be close to its end or already expired, opening the door to a free transfer within the division.

Standing at 1.77m and primarily operating as a defender at right-back, the APOEL No 14 offers AEL an attack-minded option on the flank, with his preferred right foot and versatility a key part of his profile.

Born in Anadia on 17 May 1994, Nanu holds both Guinea-Bissau and Portuguese nationality. He has built a career that has taken him through several leagues before arriving in Cyprus, and he now represents APOEL in the Cypriot top flight.

In his most recent outing for APOEL, against a Cyprus League opponent earlier this year, he featured in a tight league encounter that underlined his defensive discipline and athleticism over the full 90 minutes, contributing to APOEL’s structure in a game that finished level on the day.

With his social media profile active and his status at APOEL under scrutiny, a move to AEL Limassol would keep him in familiar surroundings while offering a fresh start. If the transfer materialises, it could extend his top-flight relevance in Cyprus and shape the final phase of his career.
