Nantes target Monaco’s Oumar Konate in push to strengthen attack

FC Nantes are in advanced negotiations with AS Monaco over a loan move for Oumar Konate as they step up their efforts to reinforce their attack.

The young Ivorian striker has emerged as the Nantes club’s priority target for the remainder of the season, with discussions between the two sides now approaching a decisive stage.

Nantes are keen to add greater strength to their forward line and believe Konate could play a central role in their plans. The club’s interest has also been welcomed by the player, who is receptive to the prospect of moving to Loire-Atlantique.

Konate is attracted by the possibility of securing regular playing time and taking on increased responsibility within the Nantes attack. That opportunity has persuaded him to consider the move positively, with the player’s representatives understood to be eager to complete the next step in his career.

The proposed transfer would initially be arranged as a loan from AS Monaco. Although the main points of the deal have been discussed, the two clubs still need to settle the final contractual details before the agreement can be formally concluded.

Those negotiations are now nearing their end, and the outcome of the deal is expected shortly. Unless there is a late change in circumstances, Konate should soon travel to Nantes for a medical examination before completing the move.

The forward’s expected arrival would give FC Nantes another attacking option for the rest of the campaign, while providing Konate with the chance to feature more prominently. For AS Monaco, the arrangement would allow the striker to seek valuable playing time away from the club, should the final terms be approved.

Both clubs are therefore working towards the same immediate objective: resolving the remaining conditions of the loan and allowing the player to begin his new challenge in Nantes. With Konate open to the transfer and negotiations at an advanced stage, the deal appears close to being completed.

The medical will represent the next significant step in the process. Provided it is successfully completed and the outstanding contractual matters are finalised, the Ivorian attacker is expected to join FC Nantes soon.
