Serge Gakpé Confirms Move to Genoa from Nantes
It’s official: Serge Gakpé will leave FC Nantes and Ligue 1 at the end of the season. The Togolese international has confirmed that he has signed a three-year deal with Italian Serie A side Genoa, with an option for an additional year.
“I signed on Tuesday for three seasons, plus an optional one. But just because I signed with another club doesn’t mean I’m going to be freewheeling until the end of the season,” Gakpé (26 caps for Togo) told the press.
The 27-year-old forward, whose contract with Nantes expires this summer, will leave on a free transfer. Gakpé joined Nantes in 2011, and previously played for AS Monaco (where he was trained) and Standard Liège in Belgium.
This move marks the fourth club in Gakpé’s professional career, and a new challenge in Serie A awaits him.
