Djilobodji Confirms OM Interest, Sets Sights on Real Madrid Dream
Senegalese defender Papy Djilobodji has confirmed on Canal Plus that Olympique de Marseille had shown interest in signing him. The FC Nantes centre-back admitted that the move didn’t happen due to financial demands from his club.
“Yes, my agent told me that OM was interested. But the president wanted to sell me too expensively. I continued to work, I didn’t give up,” he explained.
Now a regular starter with Senegal’s national team, Djilobodji is aiming high for the future.
“I want to have a great career, win the Champions League, and play for a very big club. With which club? I would like Real Madrid,” he said, adding that he remains focused on his performances with Nantes and trusts his agents to manage transfer discussions.
The defender also spoke about his camaraderie with Moustapha Bayal Sall of Saint-Étienne, dismissing any rivalry:
“We are national team rivals? No, Moustapha is a brother first and foremost. He sends me messages to encourage me and give me instructions. At Saint-Étienne, they are having a great season.”
At the time, both Saint-Étienne (4th with 20 points) and Nantes (5th with 19 points) were neck and neck in the Ligue 1 table, adding extra spice to their club campaigns.
