Nantes consider Strasbourg defender Saidou Sow in Ligue 2 return move

Guinean-French defender Saidou Sow is the subject of a transfer rumour linking him with a move from Strasbourg to Nantes.

The 24-year-old centre-back is contracted to Strasbourg until 30 June 2028 and has a market value of €2.5m. No transfer fee or probability has been established for a potential move to Nantes, who currently compete in Ligue 2.

Sow has previous experience with Nantes, having joined the club on loan from Strasbourg on 25 January 2025. He returned to Strasbourg at the end of that season before spending the second half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Clermont Foot. That loan ended on 30 June 2026, when he returned to Strasbourg.

He joined Strasbourg permanently from Saint-Etienne on 9 August 2023 for €3m. Sow’s career record includes 59 Ligue 1 appearances, with three goals and three assists, as well as 38 Ligue 2 appearances and one goal.

The defender began his senior career at Saint-Etienne after progressing from the club’s under-19 side. He was born in Conakry and holds Guinea and France nationality.

Sow remains a Strasbourg player under contract, with Nantes’ reported interest representing a possible return to a club he has previously represented on loan.
