Ghanaian midfielder Lawrence Agyekum, currently on loan at Belgian Pro League side Cercle Brugge from Red Bull Salzburg, has attracted transfer interest from French clubs Nantes and Strasbourg ahead of the summer window.
Both clubs are reportedly prioritizing the 21-year-old, who remains under contract with Salzburg until 2026.
Agyekum has been a consistent performer for Cercle Brugge during the 2024–25 season, making 44 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
His versatility and composure in midfield have made him a standout in Belgium, drawing attention from clubs seeking to bolster their squads.
Nantes, currently battling to secure their Ligue 1 status, view Agyekum as a key target to strengthen their midfield options. However, their uncertain league position could complicate negotiations.
In contrast, Strasbourg, who are on course to qualify for European competition, may hold an advantage in the pursuit of the Ghanaian international, offering the prospect of continental football next season.
Agyekum’s development has been notable since his move from Ghana’s WAFA SC to Salzburg in 2022.
After gaining experience with FC Liefering, Salzburg’s feeder team, he joined Cercle Brugge on loan in July 2024.
His performances in Belgium have not only enhanced his reputation but also earned him a call-up to the Ghana national team, where he made his debut in March 2025.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Agyekum’s future remains a subject of interest, with both Nantes and Strasbourg keen to secure his services.
