Nana Boateng’s spark inspires Sutton United to National League Cup triumph

Sutton United claimed their first victory in the National League Cup with a commanding 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur Academy, driven by a masterful assist from English-born Ghanaian striker Nana Boateng.

The U’s struck early, as Lewis Simper fired home in the 8th minute, capitalizing on a deflection inside the box. Tottenham’s youngsters responded with pressure, but Sutton’s goalkeeper Steve Arnold produced a string of fine saves to preserve the lead.

The second half mirrored the first, with Sutton doubling their advantage in the 51st minute. Boateng dazzled, slicing through Spurs’ defense with a clever run before delivering a pinpoint cross to Trialist Shaun Williams, who tapped in from close range.

Tottenham threatened late on, but Sutton’s defense, led by Harry Ransom and Chin Okoli, held firm. Ransom added a third in stoppage time, sealing the victory.

Boateng’s assist and dynamic presence highlighted a standout performance, leaving fans eager for more as Sutton eyes further success in their upcoming FA Trophy clash against Ebbsfleet United.
