Najat Vallaud-Belkacem Supports UEFA Over PSG’s Financial Fair Play Concerns
Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, the Moroccan-born French sports minister, has publicly disagreed with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) regarding the issue of Financial Fair Play (FFP). Although she supported PSG during their quarter-final match against Chelsea, Vallaud-Belkacem is in favor of UEFA’s stance on FFP and backs sanctions against the capital club if necessary.
Speaking to Le Monde, the Minister for Women’s Rights, Urban Affairs, Youth, and Sports explained that while PSG is an important showcase for French football, ensuring fairness in competitions is paramount. “To guarantee the fairness of competitions, the financial resources of the participants must be roughly comparable,” she stated, emphasizing the need to prevent financial imbalances that could disrupt the integrity of the sport.
