Julian Nagelsmann is expected to be among the leading candidates to replace Michael Carrick as Manchester United manager if the club decide to remove him, according to The Telegraph.
The former Germany and Bayern Munich manager is interested in taking charge at Old Trafford, should Manchester United’s hierarchy opt to make a change at the top of the coaching staff.
Carrick is under increasing pressure after Manchester United suffered a 4-1 defeat by Como in the Champions League. The result extended their run without a victory to seven consecutive matches.
Como took control of the third game of the league phase through a two-goal performance from Nico Paz, while Anastasios Douvikas and Jacopo Ramon also scored.
Joshua Zirkzee scored Manchester United’s only goal, but the defeat left the club with three points from their Champions League campaign and in 20th place.
Manchester United are also 13th in the Premier League, with seven points.
