Unusual developments are unfolding within the administrative corridors of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) in recent days.
Decisions regarding referee appointments and designations are being made, all while the current term of office for members is set to expire in a month.
The intriguing aspect is the appointment of Nageh El-Guindy as the general supervisor of refereeing, a voluntary role aimed at restructuring the referee department.
This move comes at a time when Awaad Al-Tarabulsi, the head of the refereeing department, has called for a clarification of his role.
The EFA seems to be deliberately provoking Al-Tarabulsi to force his resignation, even though his term ends in a month.
Sources indicate that the interim president of the association, Wasef Ghalil, asked Al-Tarabulsi to continue working in the refereeing department alongside other members.
However, there was no indication that Nageh El-Guindy would be tasked with referee appointments for the Premier League, as Said El-Kordi will handle those for the second division, and Yassin Harrush will maintain his role in scouting and development.
The chain of resignations commenced with the official spokesman of the refereeing administration, Mourad Ben Hamza, submitting his resignation without providing explicit reasons.
Other resignations are expected, especially given that the general supervisor, El-Guindy, refuses to work with members of the administration and has a comprehensive vision of the refereeing situation.
Furthermore, Al-Tarabulsi is expected to sit with Wasef Ghalil to clarify matters.
However, it is reported that he may also resign, refusing to continue working in an atmosphere charged with tension and asserting his incompatibility with the new refereeing official.
It is evident that Nageh El-Guindy has prepared his team and has begun coordinating with prominent figures in refereeing such as Alaa El-Mansouri, Youssef Saadallah, and Salim Belkhwas.
Additionally, he intends to abolish the stringent age limit of 70 for referees and observers, a policy that has forced many to retire prematurely.
