Nader Ghandri: Centre-back free agent weighing options after leaving last club

Nader Ghandri has left Akhmat Grozny and is now a free agent after his contract with the Russian Premier Liga side came to an end on 2026-02-10. The Tunisia/France centre-back has officially joined the pool of “Without Club” players, confirming his departure from Grozny on a free transfer, with no fee involved and no new club yet announced.

The move closes a brief chapter in Russia for the 1.97m defender, whose current market value is listed at €900k. His registration is now held under the generic “Without Club” status, meaning he is free to negotiate and sign with any interested side as soon as an agreement is reached. The transfer is recorded as a completed switch from Akhmat Grozny to Without Club, not a rumour or preliminary arrangement, and took effect on 2026-02-10.

Ghandri’s exit from Akhmat comes less than two years after joining the Chechen club from Ajman Club in the United Arab Emirates Premier League, a move that had taken him from North Africa and the Gulf into the intensity of the Russian top flight. Before heading to the UAE in 2023, he rebuilt his reputation at Club Africain in Tunisia, where his market value climbed sharply, peaking at around the €900k mark and earning him another chance in more competitive environments.

The Paris-born defender, who holds both Tunisian and French nationality, has built a varied career across several leagues. After early steps in France with Jeanne d’Arc de Drancy and Athlétic Club Arlésien, he moved to Club Africain in 2014, establishing himself in Tunisian football. Spells in Belgium with Royal Antwerp FC and KVC Westerlo followed, including loan moves in both directions between the two clubs, and a stint in Bulgaria with Slavia Sofia. This sequence of transfers gave him exposure to Ligue 2 in France, the Tunisian league, the Belgian system, Bulgaria’s top division, the UAE Pro League and finally Russia’s Premier Liga.

Physically imposing and right-footed, Ghandri is listed primarily as a centre-back, though his height and profile have often seen him used as a dominant presence in central defensive structures. His market value history shows a steady rise from €100k as a teenager in France to the €900k bracket he has maintained since late 2022, reflecting sustained belief in his qualities despite frequent moves.

The confirmed free-agent status effectively positions Ghandri for another move abroad, potentially outside both Tunisia and France once again. With no league currently attached to his “Without Club” designation and no transfer fee required, he represents an experienced, internationally travelled option for clubs in need of an immediate defensive reinforcement. The next contract he signs, whenever it begins and whenever it is due to expire, will go a long way to determining whether he consolidates his career at the highest possible level or continues the journeyman path that has taken him across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
