Naby Keita: Qarabag linked with move for Guinea and Ferencvaros midfielder

Naby Keita, the Guinea international midfielder currently at Hungarian champions Ferencvaros, is being linked with a move to Qarabag in the Azerbaijan Premyer Liqa. The 31-year-old’s future in Budapest is uncertain, with interest growing from the perennial Azerbaijani title contenders as they look to add experience in central midfield.

Keita, who joined Ferencvaros in January 2026, has quickly become involved in their European push and registered an assist in his first UEFA Europa League qualifying appearance of the new campaign, playing the full 90 minutes. Qarabag are understood to view his recent form in continental competition as a sign he could make an immediate impact in Baku.

The midfielder’s current market value is listed at around €1.5 million, a figure that would represent a manageable outlay for Qarabag if Ferencvaros are willing to negotiate. With no public indication of a fixed contract end date in Hungary, any deal would likely depend on Ferencvaros’ stance over a player who has contributed to back-to-back domestic success, including a Hungarian league title in 2024-25 and a Hungarian Cup win in 2025-26.

Keita’s pedigree includes winning the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool in 2018-19, bolstering his appeal to a Qarabag side regularly involved in European qualifying rounds. For now, the midfielder remains part of Ferencvaros’ plans, involved from the start in their latest Europa League qualifier as speculation over a potential switch to Azerbaijan continues to build.
