After resigning following Tunisia’s defeat against Cape Verde (2-0) in the last day of the qualifying phases for the 2014 Brazil World Cup, Nabil Maaloul faced further challenges. Before leading the Carthage Eagles, Maaloul had been the coach of Esperance Sportive. Following his resignation, he filed an appeal against his former team.
However, the commission responsible for appeals in Tunisia rejected his appeal, resulting in a setback for Maaloul. The coach contested what he considered to be his abrupt removal from the helm of the Sang et Or team.
Nabil Maaloul’s difficulties continued as he resigned from the position of head coach of the national team. He was succeeded by Ruud Krul, who took charge of leading the Tunisian selection during the play-offs against Cameroon, with the goal of securing qualification for the 2014 Brazil World Cup. Maaloul’s departure marked a challenging period for him, both in terms of his position at Esperance Sportive and his role with the national team.
