Nabil Fekir set to join Saudi club Abha

Nabil Fekir is on the verge of signing for Saudi club Abha after two seasons in the United Arab Emirates.

The 33-year-old midfielder, once a star for Lyon, Real Betis and France, now looks set for another chapter far from Europe.

After injuries slowed his career in Spain, Fekir chose to leave for the Gulf in 2024. He spent the last two years with Al-Jazira, but finished this summer without a contract and ready for a fresh start. Abha, newly promoted in Saudi Arabia, have moved quickly to secure him and continue their active transfer window.

The club have already added familiar names to French football followers, including goalkeeper Donovan Leon and defender Abdou Diallo. Fekir would become their biggest statement yet, bringing top-level experience, creativity and a profile that still carries weight despite his physical setbacks.

For Fekir, this feels like another bold adventure at a later stage of his career. It may also be one of his final major moves, as he prepares to join a squad hoping to establish itself quickly in the Saudi top flight.
