The Spanish gaffer masterminded for the South African outfit to defeat MC Alger in the quarterfinal, reaching the semifinals of the competition.
Orlando Pirates advanced 1-0 on aggregate to set up a tie against Pyramids in the crucial semifinal encounter next week.
“My life will never be the same after being the coach of the Pirates. What else can I say? It’s a huge change in my life. I am talking about everything you mentioned — the way the fans treat me. Yes… it’s something special,” he confessed after the game.
Incidentally, only two countries will be represented in the semi-finals. While South Africa is heavily represent by Mamelodi and Orlando Pirates, Egypt on the other side has Al Ahly and Pyramids.
The first legs of the CAF Champions League semifinals has been scheduled for next week.
