Karim Hassan Shehata, the son of former Egypt coach, Hassan Shehata has debunked death rumours about the legendary football tactician.
Reports went rife on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 regarding the passing of Hassan Shehata, who guided the Egyptian national team to three Africa Cup of Nations success.
But his son has swiftly deny such media reports, while urging the public to treat it with the needed contempt it deserves.
Meanwhile, Karim Hassan clarified the health status of his father, putting an end to the flood of rumors.
Karim explained that his father had suffered a health setback that required hospitalization for a period before his condition improved.
As result, the legendary football coach has been discharged from the hospital and is currently receiving treatment.
“The Teacher’s Son” indicated that his father had also received injections in his back recently. He added that his father’s condition is showing clear improvement, both physically and mentally, especially given the overwhelming public support and the love and appreciation he has received from his fans.
“Thank God my father is well, and what has been circulating about his death is completely untrue. Unfortunately, there are unscrupulous people spreading such news in search of ‘trending,’ and this is upsetting for us as a family,” emphasizing that his father “needs prayers.” He told Zamalek TV in an interview.
Hassan Shehata is regarded as one of the top coaches to have emerged from the African continent, winning three consecutive AFCON titles with the Pharaohs of Egypt between 2006 to 2010.
