Lamine Yamal has opened up about his 2024 Golden Boy award win, stating that it is just the beginning of good things to come in his career.
The 17-year-old has awarded prize weeks ago, beating competition from a lineup of talented players.
Expressing his gratitude, Yamal stated, “Thank you very much, it is a great honour to receive it,” reflecting on his rapid rise in football, as quoted by tribuna.com.
Yamal emphasized the importance of remaining grounded amidst his newfound success, saying, “A lot has happened to me all at once while I am still young. But I always try to take it easy and keep my feet on the ground. My career has only just began.”
The Golden Boy award, established by Tuttosport, is determined by votes from journalists across Europe.
Yamal’s remarkable performance during the year included significant contributions to Spain’s Euro 2024 victory, where he was named young player of the tournament.
His achievements this season also include winning the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
