Al Ahly is moving forward with plans to extend Mustafa Shobeir’s contract, with a key meeting scheduled between the goalkeeper and Mohamed Shawky, the club’s Deputy Sports Director for Football Affairs.
A source told Kooora that Shawky is set to finalize the details of Schubert’s contract renewal after the upcoming clash against Tala’ea El Gaish in the Egyptian Premier League’s 17th round.
Discussions have been ongoing between Mohamed Ramadan, Al Ahly’s sports director, and club president Mahmoud Al-Khatib, leading to a decision to extend and improve Schubert’s contract, originally set to expire in the summer of 2026.
The new deal will run until 2029, upgrading Schubert’s salary to the second-tier bracket, reflecting his increasing role in the squad alongside Mohamed El Shenawy.
Meanwhile, the team will wrap up its training session this evening before head coach Marcel Koller finalizes his squad for a closed training camp ahead of the crucial league encounter.
