Mustafa Mohamed scores as Konyaspor draw 2-2 with Palestine reserves

Konyaspor drew 2-2 with the Palestine national team’s reserve side in a friendly played at Konya Municipality Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The match formed part of Palestine Day, with Konyaspor’s management distributing Palestinian flags throughout the stadium for supporters.

Egypt forward Mustafa Mohamed, who plays for Konyaspor, also wore a shirt featuring the Palestinian flag during the event.

The home crowd displayed images of journalists and athletes killed in Gaza. The banners carried the messages “Journalism is not a crime” and “Israel has killed 1,014 athletes in Palestine”.

Mohammad Sandouqa scored both of Palestine’s goals, while Mustafa Mohamed found the net for Konyaspor.

The game also marked the return of Mohammad Diriyah, who took the captain’s armband after a lengthy absence from football while receiving treatment and recovering from cancer.

Palestine’s senior national team is currently in China for an international friendly tournament involving New Zealand, Tajikistan and China.

The team began the tournament with a 2-2 draw against New Zealand before beating Tajikistan 4-2 in its second match.

Palestine will face China in the final fixture of the tournament during the current international break.
