Muhammed Dumbuya: Gambian winger joins Pohronie on free transfer from Podbrezova
Gambian left winger Muhammed Dumbuya has joined Slovak side Pohronie on a free transfer from top-flight club Podbrezova. The 19-year-old moves across the country in a permanent deal after spending last season split between the Nike Liga and lower divisions.
Dumbuya, born in Banjul in March 2007, arrives at Pohronie having already gained experience in Slovakia’s top two tiers. Primarily operating on the left of the attack, he is expected to add speed and directness to Pohronie’s forward options as they compete in the II. Liga.
The teenager spent the 2025-26 campaign on the books of Podbrezova, featuring in the Nike Liga as well as the Slovnaft Cup. His season included a loan spell with Inter Bratislava, where he returned at the end of June before making the switch to Pohronie in mid-July. Across league and cup competitions in Slovakia, he has accumulated appearances in the top flight, second tier and domestic cup, scoring three goals in one season of first-team football.
Dumbuya first arrived in Slovak football in 2025, leaving Kanifing EFC in his homeland to sign for Podbrezova. His latest move continues his development in Central Europe, with Pohronie securing a player whose market value is currently listed at €50,000.
The transfer, completed on 15 July 2026, sees Dumbuya become a permanent Pohronie player following the expiry of his time with Podbrezova.
