Tunisia coach Sami Trabelsi addressed the Youssef Msakni affair during a press conference. Msakni, a Tunisian player, was dismissed from the national team for refusing to pose for sponsor Gilette. Coach Trabelsi emphasized that the collective team spirit takes precedence over individual choices and stated that the decision to exclude Msakni was made by mutual agreement between the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) and the technical staff.
In response to the coach’s statement, Msakni’s club, Espérance de Tunis, issued a press release explaining the player’s refusal to take individual photos. The club emphasized legal aspects, stating that the player is free to decide whether to participate in such activities unless there is a mutual agreement between the sponsor and the player. The situation remains contentious ahead of Tunisia’s match against Sierra Leone.
