Mphekgoane attracting Motsepe Foundation Championship interest after Orlando Pirates DDC triumph

Orlando Pirates Diski Challenge defender Moses Mphekgoane is being tracked by at least two Motsepe Foundation Championship clubs following his role in the Buccaneers’ title-winning campaign.

The 21-year-old, who helped Pirates secure their first-ever DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) league crown last season, is understood to be on the radar of Casric Stars and The Bees as preparations begin for the new campaign.

A source close to the player confirmed that both second-tier sides are monitoring the young defender after his performances in the reserve league drew attention across the National First Division.

“Casric Stars and The Bees are intersted in Moses Mphekgoane,” the source told Soccer Laduma.

Pirates breakthrough raises NFD interest Mphekgoane was part of the squad that delivered Orlando Pirates’ maiden DDC title, edging out Mamelodi Sundowns in a tight race decided on the final day of the season.

Balancing studies and professional ambitions Away from the pitch, Mphekgoane has already completed a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Finance at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits).

He specialised in Corporate Finance & Investment as well as Insurance & Risk Management, graduating while continuing his development within the Pirates set-up.

Those close to the player point to his academic achievements as evidence of the maturity and discipline he has shown in managing the dual demands of football and education.

Despite his university commitments, Mphekgoane maintained a regular role in the Diski Challenge side, contributing to a campaign that culminated in Pirates lifting the DDC trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
