Mozambique defender Bruno Langa set for Qarabag switch after Almería stint
Mozambique international defender Bruno Langa is on the verge of a new chapter in his career after Azerbaijani champions Qarabag reached an agreement with Spanish side UD Almería for his transfer.
The deal, confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, will see the 26-year-old left-back leave Spain and join one of the most successful clubs in Azerbaijan as Qarabag continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
Langa’s move comes just months after Almería made his stay permanent following an impressive loan spell during the second half of last season. The Spanish club had been convinced by the defender’s performances and subsequently activated an option to sign him on a long-term contract, handing him a four-year deal.
However, despite recently committing his future to Almería, the opportunity to join Qarabag and compete for domestic honours as well as European football appears to have accelerated his departure from Spain.
The Mozambican defender has built a reputation as an energetic and dependable left-back, capable of contributing at both ends of the pitch. His pace, defensive discipline, and ability to support attacks from wide areas have made him a key figure for both club and country in recent years.
For Qarabag, the acquisition represents another strategic addition as they prepare for another demanding season. The Azerbaijani giants have dominated their domestic league in recent years and regularly feature in UEFA club competitions, making them an attractive destination for players seeking continental exposure.
Langa’s arrival is expected to provide increased competition and depth on the left side of defence, while also bringing valuable experience from European football. Having played in Portugal and Spain before this move, he arrives with a solid understanding of high-level competition and should adapt quickly to Qarabag’s ambitions.
The transfer also marks another significant milestone for Mozambican football, with one of the nation’s leading internationals securing a move to a club that consistently competes on the European stage.
While final formalities are expected to be completed in the coming days, Langa now looks set to begin a fresh challenge in Azerbaijan as Qarabag continue their preparations for the 2026/27 season. The move offers the defender an opportunity to pursue silverware and further establish himself as one of Mozambique’s most prominent football exports.
