Moussa Sylla shines as Schalke striker reaches peak fitness

Moussa Sylla is enjoying one of his strongest physical spells since joining Schalke 04, with the striker underlining his progress by scoring four times in a 5-2 friendly win over Rot-Weiß Oberhausen.

The 26-year-old has impressed not only through his finishing but also with the fitness work completed over the summer. According to WAZ, Sylla lost several kilograms and has produced better running statistics than he managed last season. That improvement has helped him meet the intense pressing demands set by head coach Miron Muslić.

Assistant coach Tim Hoogland praised the forward’s attitude and application in training. “Moussa gives everything in every training session. We are very happy with his attitude, it is excellent,” he said. Hoogland also highlighted Sylla’s energy and commitment away from the ball during the Oberhausen match.

The four-goal performance sends a strong message in Schalke’s competitive attacking unit. Sylla’s sharper movement, increased work rate and renewed confidence could make him a significant option in the coming weeks.

He will remain in Gelsenkirchen during the international break after agreeing with Mali’s national coach to miss the trip following the birth of his daughter. That decision allows him to support his family while preparing for Schalke’s next fixtures.
