Moussa Sylla remains a doubt for Schalke ahead of Koln clash
FC Schalke 04 are still uncertain whether Moussa Sylla will recover in time for Saturday’s Bundesliga away fixture against FC Koln as the striker continues his rehabilitation from a leg injury.
The 26-year-old forward completed an individual training programme at Schalke’s professional performance centre on Tuesday, leaving his availability for the weekend in doubt.
Sylla sustained the injury to his left leg during Schalke’s 1-2 defeat to SC Freiburg and subsequently missed the 1-0 home loss against Mainz 05. The club has not disclosed the precise nature of the injury or provided a definitive recovery timeline.
Schalke head coach Miron Muslić previously acknowledged that the injury was not particularly serious but admitted that the timing could make a return against Köln difficult.
“I am not sure whether we will manage it in time with Moussa,” Muslić said, while emphasising that the club would do everything possible to make him available.
Sylla’s potential absence would be a concern for Schalke, who struggled to create attacking momentum against Mainz. The forward has made five competitive appearances this season, scoring once, and his pace provides an important option in the attacking line.
The coaching staff will continue monitoring his progress throughout the week before making a final decision on his availability.
Schalke travel to face Köln on Saturday, October 24, with kick-off scheduled for 15:30 local time. Whether Sylla returns to the squad will depend on how his recovery progresses over the coming days.
