Pierre Antoine Dorival’s debut training session with Olympique Lyonnais’ first team has drawn praise from his Senegalese teammate, Moussa Niakhate.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who joined Lyon last October, expressed his excitement at the opportunity to train with the senior squad.
It’s a special day because it’s my first session with the pros… since Dakar Sacré-Coeur it’s been a dream,” Dorival said.
Currently playing for the U19 reserve team, Dorival has already shown promise, having competed in eight matches.
He’s also an African Champion and a quarter-finalist at the U17 World Cup with Senegal.
Niakhate, who trained alongside Dorival during the session, was quick to commend his talent.
I was super happy… He deserves it. We had a great session, a little shy at first, but then he let loose,” Niakhate said, likening Dorival to French star Eduardo Camavinga due to his playing style. “Soon, he will be with us regularly.
We will have a Senegalese Camavinga,” he predicted, expressing confidence in Dorival’s future with Lyon.
