Club Brugge Target Senegal’s Moussa Konaté as De Sutter Replacement
Senegalese striker Moussa Konaté could be on his way to the Belgian Pro League, with Club Brugge reportedly eyeing the FC Sion forward as a replacement for outgoing striker Tom De Sutter.
The 22-year-old international has drawn increasing attention following a prolific spell in Switzerland. After netting 20 goals last season for Sion and already adding three goals in five matches this campaign, Konaté’s stock has risen significantly.
While earlier linked with a move to Hannover 96 in the Bundesliga, Konaté is now said to be a prime target for Brugge, who are in the market for attacking reinforcements following De Sutter’s transfer to Turkish side Bursaspor, according to footgoal.net.
Konaté remains under contract with FC Sion until 2017, and the Swiss club reportedly values him at around €4 million. The striker has also made his mark on the international stage, scoring four goals in nine appearances for Senegal.
With his pace, finishing ability, and experience in European competition, Konaté could offer Brugge a dynamic presence up front as they look to compete both domestically and in Europe this season. However, it remains to be seen whether the Belgian giants will meet Sion’s valuation before the transfer window closes.
