Malian international Moussa Doumbia, popularly known as “Chico,” is on the brink of a return to French football. After terminating his contract with FC Sochaux last summer and a subsequent stint in Saudi Arabia, the dynamic winger is drawing significant interest from several French clubs.

Doumbia, whose contract with Al Adalah in the Saudi Second Division ends on June 30, 2024, is in advanced negotiations with a number of potential suitors.

Among those reportedly keen on securing his services are AS Saint-Étienne, Clermont Foot, Amiens SC, and Red Star, as reported by Africafoot.

The 29-year-old winger has had a notable season in Saudi Arabia, contributing 4 goals and 3 assists in 22 appearances.

Despite his impressive form, Doumbia seems set on returning to the more competitive environment of French football, where he has previously made a significant impact.

Doumbia’s career in France has been marked by successful spells with Stade Reims and FC Sochaux.

At Reims, he tallied 6 goals and 3 assists over 88 appearances in all competitions.

His tenure at Sochaux was even more prolific, with Doumbia scoring 13 goals and providing 6 assists in 35 matches last season.

With 42 caps and 6 goals for the Malian national team since his debut in 2014, Doumbia brings both experience and skill to the table.

His potential move back to France is highly anticipated, especially given his familiarity with the league and his proven track record.

Doumbia’s market value is currently estimated at €1.5 million, and he is poised to join his next club as a free agent.

This move is expected to not only reignite his career in Europe but also provide a significant boost to whichever club secures his signature.

As the transfer window approaches, the competition for Doumbia’s signature is likely to intensify, with clubs eager to add his pace, creativity, and goal-scoring prowess to their rosters.
