Moussa Diaby transfer: Bayer Leverkusen consider return for Al-Ittihad winger
French-Malian winger Moussa Diaby is being linked with a move from Al-Ittihad to former club Bayer Leverkusen, with the Bundesliga side reported to be interested in bringing him back to Germany.
Diaby, 27, joined Al-Ittihad from Aston Villa in July 2024 in a deal worth €60m and is under contract with the Saudi Pro League club until 30 June 2029. He has since made 55 league appearances, scoring nine goals and providing 23 assists.
The winger helped Al-Ittihad win the Saudi Arabian title and Saudi Cup in the 2024-25 season. His current market value is listed at €25m, although there is no indication that a fee has been agreed between the clubs.
A left-footed right winger, Diaby previously spent four seasons at Leverkusen after joining from Paris St-Germain in 2019. He made 125 Bundesliga appearances for the club, scoring 31 goals and registering 37 assists, before moving to Aston Villa in 2023.
Diaby’s career has also included 38 Premier League appearances for Villa, alongside nine Champions League appearances and 28 in the Europa League. He won the French league and French Super Cup with Paris St-Germain before earning a place in France’s Nations League-winning squad in 2021.
The proposed Leverkusen move remains a rumour, with Diaby’s long-term contract at Al-Ittihad currently running through June 2029.
