Mourinho targets Yan Diomande as possible Vinícius Júnior successor at Real Madrid
Jose Mourinho may not yet have been officially unveiled as Real Madrid head coach, but reports suggest the Portuguese tactician is already actively involved in shaping the club’s transfer strategy.
With negotiations between Real Madrid and his current club Benfica reportedly in their final stages, Mourinho is said to be preparing for a major squad overhaul following a disappointing season in the Spanish capital.
According to reports, no area of the squad is expected to be left untouched as the club prepares for a new era under “The Special One”.
Yan Diomande Emerges as Key Target
Sport BILD reports that Mourinho is “madly in love” with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, identifying the 19-year-old as a potential marquee signing for Real Madrid.
The young Bundesliga attacker has impressed during his debut season in Germany, quickly establishing himself as one of Leipzig’s most exciting emerging talents.
His performances have now reportedly placed him on the radar of Real Madrid, where he could be viewed as a long-term attacking option.
Possible Replacement for Vinícius Júnior
Diomande is even being discussed in some reports as a potential successor to Vinícius Júnior, amid ongoing speculation linking the Brazilian forward with a possible future move to Saudi Arabia.
Vinícius remains under contract at Real Madrid until 2027, but rumours of a departure have intensified following a difficult and trophyless campaign for the club.
Should the Brazilian eventually leave, Diomande is being considered as a natural candidate to fill the attacking void on the left flank.
Diomande Keeps Future Open
The Leipzig winger has recently spoken about his future, making it clear that while he is happy in Germany, he is not ruling out a move elsewhere in the future.
“RB Leipzig helped my family a lot. They did so much for me. I’m grateful, and I can repay them by helping on the pitch. I’m in no hurry to leave the club. What happens next will be decided this summer. Now the World Cup is coming up, and after that, you never know what might happen,” Diomande said.
His comments have only added fuel to speculation surrounding a potential transfer in the upcoming window.
Leipzig Open to Negotiations
Although RB Leipzig are keen to keep hold of the highly rated winger and are exploring a possible contract extension, the club could be open to negotiations if their valuation is met.
As things stand, Diomande remains a key part of Leipzig’s plans, but growing interest from European giants suggests a summer transfer battle could be on the horizon.
