José Mourinho Criticizes David Luiz’s Move to Paris Saint-Germain
José Mourinho has delivered a sharp critique of former Chelsea defender David Luiz following the player’s transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Chelsea manager dismissed Luiz’s importance to the team, suggesting that the club would be better off without him. Speaking about Luiz’s role last season, Mourinho said: “He wasn’t a regular first choice for us, especially not at centre back. We had John Terry and Gary Cahill all season.”
Mourinho acknowledged Luiz’s contributions in midfield, particularly in the Champions League when Nemanja Matic was unavailable. “He’s a physical guy who gave us some important things, especially in the Champions League. Matic will be able to play in the Champions League next season, so we don’t need David’s physique anymore.”
Despite the criticism, Mourinho praised Luiz’s professionalism and character. “He’s a great professional and we’ll miss him as a good guy. But from a purely footballing point of view, I think our football will be better this season than last season.”
Known for his provocative remarks, Mourinho’s comments underline his confidence in Chelsea’s squad depth and his belief that Luiz’s departure will not harm the club’s prospects.
