Mourinho blocks Man United move for Aurelien Tchouameni
Manchester United’s interest in Aurelien Tchouameni has run into a major roadblock, with Jose Mourinho reportedly unwilling to let the Real Madrid midfielder leave.
The Premier League side had seen the France international as a strong summer target after a disappointing season, but Madrid now appear set to keep hold of one of their key players.
Tchouaméni joined Real Madrid from AS Monaco in 2022 and has grown into a reliable presence in midfield. He helped the club win the Champions League in 2024 and remains a regular for both club and country, which makes him a difficult player to replace.
United are expected to bring in at least two midfielders this summer, and they could add a third if Manuel Ugarte departs. Tchouameni had the kind of experience and pedigree they were looking for, but Mourinho’s stance may force them to move on to other targets.
Those alternatives include Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali, Adam Wharton, Alex Scott and Mateus Fernandes as United continue reshaping their squad ahead of the new season.
