Ibrahim Mounkoro Returns to TP Mazembe After Impressive Loan Spell
Lubumbashi – June 2015
TP Mazembe have confirmed the return of Malian goalkeeper Ibrahim Mounkoro Bosso following the end of his loan spell with Don Bosco. The 25-year-old re-joins the Congolese giants with renewed confidence after a standout season that saw him earn plaudits for his sharp reflexes and impressive reading of the game.
Mounkoro’s performances were instrumental in Don Bosco’s strong campaign, particularly during the playoff stage, where his contributions helped the club secure a third-place finish. His development during the loan period has not gone unnoticed by TP Mazembe’s technical staff.
The Lubumbashi-based side released a statement welcoming the Malian shot-stopper back into the fold, confirming that the loan did not include a purchase option. Now back with the Ravens, Mounkoro is expected to bring fresh competition to an already experienced goalkeeping lineup.
The challenge ahead is significant. TP Mazembe boasts a deep pool of goalkeeping talent, including the legendary Robert Kidiaba, the reliable Aimé Bakula, and Ivorian international Sylvain Gbohouo. However, with Gbohouo sidelined due to a lingering knee injury, Mounkoro’s return comes at a crucial time.
Eager to prove his worth and climb the internal hierarchy, Mounkoro resumed training on Monday and was warmly welcomed by his teammates. His reintegration marks the start of a new phase in his career as he looks to establish himself within one of Africa’s most successful clubs.
