Mouhamed Diop: Senegalese striker joins RFCU Luxembourg on free transfer
Senegalese striker Mouhamed Diop has joined Racing FC Union Luxembourg on a free transfer from Albanian side KF Butrinti. The 20-year-old forward moves to the BGL Ligue club after a brief spell in Albanian football and will continue his senior career in Luxembourg following the completion of the deal on 9 July 2026.
Diop arrives at RFCU Luxembourg having stepped up to senior level with Butrinti last season. He featured in the Albanian second tier, making league appearances in the Kategoria e Pare, and also found the net in domestic cup action, scoring in the Kupa e Shqiperise. His limited minutes at first-team level included just under a full matchs worth of game time in the league, plus a decisive contribution in his 28-minute cup outing.
Born in Thies on 2 January 2006, Diop has been on the move in recent seasons. He left Laberia FCs under-19 side in the summer of 2025 to sign for Butrinti, again on a free transfer, before earning his first opportunity in European top-flight football with this latest switch to Luxembourg.
RFCU Luxembourg compete in the BGL Ligue and Diops arrival adds further depth in attacking areas, with the Senegalese youngster listed primarily as a central striker. The move marks his first contract in Luxembourgish football and continues his progression from youth level in Albania into a senior role with the Luxembourg club.
