Mostafa Mohamed transfer to Konyaspor moves closer after Blaz Kramer exit

Mostafa Mohamed is nearing a move from French club Nantes to Turkish side Konyaspor after the departure of Slovenian striker Blaz Kramer was confirmed, according to Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.

Konyaspor announced that Kramer had left the club to join Antalyaspor, removing the main obstacle to a potential deal for Mohamed during the current summer transfer window.

The Turkish website Konyanin Sesi previously reported that Konyaspor were in talks with Nantes over a move for the Egypt international. However, the Turkish club had been unwilling to complete the transfer before first resolving Kramer’s future.

With Kramer now set to leave, Konyaspor can move forward with their efforts to sign Mohamed.

Konyaspor decided against extending Kramer’s contract after the striker asked for a further two years and a salary increase. The club rejected those demands, and the two parties failed to reach an agreement before terminating the contract.

Anadolu reported that Kramer would bid farewell to his team-mates at training today before travelling to Antalyaspor for a medical. He is expected to complete his move after undergoing the necessary checks.

Mohamed has one year remaining on his Nantes contract, which runs until the summer of 2027. Nantes were relegated to the French second tier last season, adding uncertainty to the striker’s position at the club.

The 27-year-old missed most of Nantes’ pre-season preparations after initially stopping training at the start of the campaign. He later returned to work with the club’s reserve team and was absent for Nantes’ first three matches of the season.

Nantes dismissed their manager after losing each of those opening three games because of the team’s poor results.

A move to Konyaspor would see Mohamed return to the Turkish league, where he previously played for Galatasaray. He could also join Mohamed Salah in the competition, after Salah moved to Trabzonspor.

Mohamed began his Turkish career with Galatasaray before Nantes signed him from the Istanbul club for £5.5m (€6.5m).

Since joining Nantes three years ago, Mohamed has made 136 appearances and scored 29 goals for the French side. His possible move to Konyaspor would therefore represent a return to a league in which he has already established himself, while allowing the Turkish club to strengthen their attack following Kramer’s departure.
