Mostafa Mohamed is relishing his role with the national team, drawing inspiration from coach Hossam Hassan and teammate Mohamed Salah.
The young forward’s passion for the Pharaohs’ jersey shines through, as he embraces the chance to learn from two of Egypt’s football icons. His journey feels personal, rooted in his father’s lifelong admiration for Hassan, a legend whose lessons now shape Mohamed’s game. Meanwhile, sharing the pitch with Salah, a global superstar, fuels his ambition to grow.
“My father always wanted me to train with Hossam Hassan,” Mohamed said. “He used to say, ‘He will teach you a lot because he was the best striker in Egypt’s history. He is a legend.”
“After meeting Hossam Hassan, I called my father and said, ‘You must be happy now. One of your dreams has come true. I just met Hossam. What do you want me to do?’ My father replied, ‘Just learn, listen, and try your best to be like him.’”
On Salah, he added, “We are very lucky to have a player like him on our team. You can’t help but trust your team when you have a great legend, the best player in Egypt’s history. We try to learn from what he does.”
“I always try to sit with Salah. He talks about his life. Some players ask him questions like, ‘What do you do during your day? What did you do during Ramadan? What can I do to be a good player?’ He answers all the questions. He is amazing. For me, he has a great personality and I love him very much.”
