Moses Ogbu linked with IK Sirius return
IK Sirius are reportedly considering a familiar solution to replace Robbie Ure, who is closing in on a move to Sevilla.
The Swedish club have contacted former captain Moses Ogbu about a possible return to Uppsala, according to Upsala Nya Tidning.
Ure’s expected departure has left Sirius searching for a new attacking leader. The Scottish striker has been one of the team’s most important players, but his imminent transfer means the club must now move quickly to maintain its threat in the final third.
Sirius have previously been linked with Kai Meriluoto of IFK Varnamo and Rory Wilson, the former Aston Villa academy product. Ogbu, however, would offer something different: proven experience, familiarity with the club and an established connection with its supporters.
The 35-year-old forward represented Sirius from 2010 to 2015 and again between 2016 and 2018. During those spells, he made 202 appearances, scoring 62 goals and providing 22 assists. Those numbers underline the impact he made during his first period in Swedish football.
Ogbu most recently played for Chinese club Nanjing City. A return would give Sirius an experienced option as they rebuild their attack and prepare for life after Ure. Discussions are understood to be at an early stage, with no agreement confirmed yet.
