Guinea defensive midfielder Mory Konate, currently without a club after leaving KV Mechelen, is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hazem.

Konate, 32, is available as a free agent following the end of his spell at Mechelen, and Al-Hazem are understood to be exploring a deal as they look to reinforce the spine of their squad ahead of the new campaign. The Conakry-born midfielder is valued at around €500,000, a figure that is expected to make negotiations relatively straightforward if the Saudi club decide to formalise their interest.

Standing at 1.91m and predominantly right-footed, Konate built his reputation in Belgium with Sint-Truiden before switching to Mechelen in July 2023 on a free transfer. Across his time in the Jupiler Pro League he has made 110 appearances, scoring six goals and adding four assists, as well as featuring in both the league’s Europe play-offs and championship play-offs.

Before moving to Belgium’s top flight, Konate played in Germany’s lower tiers, including spells with Borussia Dortmund II, TuS Erndtebruck and VfL Alfter, where consistent minutes in regional competitions paved the way for his step up to first-division football.

Konate has been unattached since 1 July 2026, leaving him free to negotiate directly with interested clubs, and Al-Hazem are among those monitoring his situation as they weigh up midfield options in the current window.
