Mory Gbane: West Ham eye move for Stade Reims Ivorian midfielder
Mory Gbane, the Ivorian defensive midfielder currently at Stade Reims, is being linked with a move to Championship side West Ham as the London club step up plans to reinforce the centre of their midfield.
The 25-year-old, who joined Reims from Portuguese club Gil Vicente in February 2025, is under contract with the French side until 30 June 2029, meaning West Ham would almost certainly need to pay a significant fee to prise him away. Gbanes current valuation is around 4m, and Reims are expected to be in a strong position in any negotiations given the length of his deal.
Gbane has featured in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 for Reims, adding top-flight French experience to a CV that already includes spells in Portugals Liga Portugal, Russias Premier Liga and Croatias second tier. Across his time in those leagues he has accumulated well over 150 senior appearances, including a run of 13 Ligue 1 games in which he contributed an assist from his holding role.
Reims paid 5m to sign Gbane from Gil Vicente midway through the 2024-25 season after he had established himself in Portugal with 47 league appearances and two goals. That outlay and his subsequent contract extension underline his status in the Reims squad as they look ahead to the coming campaign.
For now, Gbane remains a Reims player with three years left on his deal, and any move will depend on West Ham testing the French clubs resolve to sell.
