Mory Gbane: Trabzonspor eye move for Ivory Coast and Reims midfielder

Mory Gbane, the Ivory Coast defensive midfielder currently at Stade Reims, is being linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor. The 25-year-old, who wears the No 24 shirt for the French club, has emerged as a potential target as the Black Sea outfit look to reinforce the centre of their midfield.

Gbane is under contract with Reims until 30 June 2029, a deal that strengthens the Ligue 2 clubs position in any negotiations and means Trabzonspor would likely need to pay a significant fee to secure his services. His current market valuation stands at around 4m, having risen steadily over the past few seasons.

Reims signed Gbane from Portuguese side Gil Vicente in February 2025 for 5m, and he has since broken into the first team, featuring in Ligue 1 and domestic cup competitions. The midfielder has 13 Ligue 1 appearances to his name, as well as regular outings in the Coupe de France, underlining his growing importance at the club.

Before his move to France, Gbane built his reputation across several European leagues, including spells in Portugal, Russia and Croatia, gaining experience in both league and continental competition. Born in Tontonou Toumodi and standing at 1.88m, he operates as a right-footed holding midfielder.

While Trabzonspors interest is understood to be genuine, there is no indication that an agreement is close, and Reims are in a strong bargaining position given the length of Gbanes contract and the fee they invested to bring him to the club last year.
