Morocco’s U17 national team delivered a commanding performance in their opening match of the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), securing a dominant 5-0 victory over Uganda.
Head coach Nabil Baha praised his players for their clinical execution and emphasized the importance of their early goals in setting the tone for the match.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Baha attributed the win to his squad’s ability to strike early and capitalize on their momentum.
“The key to victory against Uganda was scoring early goals. That allowed the players to gain confidence quickly, and as a result, Uganda left spaces that we were able to exploit to extend our lead,” Baha explained.
Morocco’s next challenge will be against Zambia, a team that Baha expects to offer a greater test.
The coach stressed that the competition will only intensify as the tournament progresses, with every team eager to claim the title and secure qualification for the U17 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“The upcoming match against Zambia will be more challenging. Every team here has aspirations of winning the tournament and earning a spot at the World Cup,” he stated.
With their emphatic start, Morocco has firmly established itself as a contender in the tournament. However, Baha remains focused on ensuring his squad maintains its momentum as they prepare for the tougher battles ahead.
