Morocco’s Eliesse Ben Seghir shortlisted for GLOBE SOCCER Emerging Player Award
Moroccan forward Eliesse Ben Seghir has been named among six finalists for the prestigious GLOBE SOCCER Emerging Player Award, which recognises the most promising young footballers in world football.
Ben Seghir will face stiff competition from Pau Cubarsi (Spain, Barcelona), Désiré Doué (France, Paris Saint-Germain), Arda Guler (Turkey, Real Madrid), João Neves (Portugal, Paris Saint-Germain), and Kenan Yildiz (Turkey, Juventus).
While the PSG duo are considered favourites, Ben Seghir’s nomination reinforces his reputation as one of football’s highly regarded young talents.
After an impressive 2024-2025 season with AS Monaco, Ben Seghir has struggled to find his form following his move to Bayer Leverkusen. In 11 Bundesliga appearances this season, he has yet to register a goal or assist, and he has not featured in the club’s last four matches, totalling zero minutes of game time since November 8.
Despite recent setbacks, the Moroccan international has previously demonstrated his ability to perform at a high level. With the Africa Cup of Nations fast approaching, Ben Seghir will be eager to recapture his best form on both club and international stages.
The prestigious GLOBE SOCCER Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Dubai on December 28.
The 2024 edition of the award was claimed by Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.
