Morocco’s Ashraf Dari returns to Al Ahly squad as Hussein Ammouta makes surprise decision

Moroccan defender Ashraf Dari has been included in Al Ahly’s squad for the first time this season, with coach Hussein Ammouta handing him a potential route back into the Egyptian giants’ plans.

Dari was named in Al Ahly’s squad for Tuesday’s Egyptian Premier League meeting with Abu Qir Fertilisers, marking his first inclusion of the campaign.

The decision could open the door for the Morocco international to make his first appearance of the season as Ammouta assesses his defensive options.

Dari returns to Al Ahly plans

The inclusion of Dari is the major surprise in Ammouta’s squad announcement, with the Moroccan defender now back in contention for the Red Castle.

His return provides Ammouta with another option in defence as Al Ahly prepare for their latest league fixture.

The squad also includes left-back Tawfiq Muhammad, who recently joined the club, while Taher Muhammad Taher and Omar Al-Sa’i have also returned to the coach’s consideration.

Al Ahly target return to winning ways

Ammouta’s side will enter the game looking to return to winning ways after an unbeaten start to their league campaign was interrupted by a draw.

Al Ahly began the season with a 3-2 victory over El Sharqia Enppi before beating Zed 2-0 and then securing a 1-0 win against Smouha.

Their most recent league outing ended in a 1-1 draw with Al Mokawloon Al Arab, leaving the Egyptian giants determined to collect another three points against Abu Qir Fertilisers.

Two players left out

While Dari has been brought back into the squad, Ammouta has left out Aktai Abdullah and Ali Mahmoud for technical reasons.

The inclusion of the Moroccan defender could prove significant as Al Ahly move into the next stage of the season, with Dari now back in contention for regular first-team involvement.
