Morocco youngster Yassine Jassim dedicates Strasbourg brace to his mother after Lens win

Young Moroccan international Yassine Jassim delivered an emotional tribute to his mother after inspiring Strasbourg to a valuable 2-1 victory over Lens in the second round of the French league.

The 20-year-old attacker was the star of the contest, scoring both of Strasbourg’s goals to secure all three points and underline his growing importance to the French side.

Following the match, Jassim dedicated his impressive performance to his mother, whom he credited for playing a decisive role in his journey to professional football.

The Moroccan revealed that his path to the top was far from straightforward, having gone through numerous trials with different clubs before eventually getting his opportunity. According to Jassim, his mother remained his biggest source of encouragement during the most difficult moments of his career.

“What she did for me is incredible, and I will thank her for the rest of my life because I am where I am today thanks to her,” Jassim told French media.

“I underwent no fewer than 50 trials with different clubs, and when I was about to give up, she was the only one who believed in me. This is for her, and I thank her from the bottom of my heart.”

The Strasbourg forward was particularly delighted to score both goals in front of members of his family, making the occasion even more special.

Jassim insisted, however, that his ambitions extend far beyond his latest performance. He wants to continue working hard, develop his game and produce more memorable moments for his mother and the rest of his family.

The young Moroccan has enjoyed a rapid rise in recent months, building his reputation through impressive performances before making the decision to continue his development away from Olympique Marseille.

His displays have also attracted praise from former France international Abou Diaby, who has compared Jassim’s playing style to that of former French star Hatem Ben Arfa.

The comparison is largely based on Jassim’s ability to take on defenders, his close control, dribbling ability and explosive pace in the final third.

Jassim welcomed the comparison and revealed that Ben Arfa is actually one of his biggest sources of inspiration.

“For me, Ben Arfa is the best, and what he achieved is incredible. I draw inspiration from him before matches,” he said.

With his two-goal performance against Lens, Jassim has further enhanced his reputation as one of the exciting young Moroccan talents making an impression in French football.
