Morocco winger Ilias Sebaoui inspires Sint-Truiden to victory with goal and assist
Moroccan winger Ilias Sebaoui, delivered a dazzling performance on Sunday, scoring once and providing an assist to power Sint-Truiden to a commanding 4-1 victory over KV Mechelen in the Belgian Pro League playoff round.
The match began with Mechelen taking an early advantage in the 26th minute through Borsma, briefly putting the hosts on the back foot. However, Sint-Truiden responded just before halftime, with Bobe finding the equalizer in the 44th minute to restore parity and shift momentum heading into the break.
Sint-Truiden returned for the second half with renewed intensity and quickly seized control of the game. Merlin fired them into the lead in the 49th minute, setting the stage for Sebaoui to take center stage.
The 22-year-old winger doubled his side’s advantage in the 63rd minute, finishing off a well-worked move to cap an impressive attacking display. Not done yet, Sebaoui turned provider in the 76th minute, delivering a precise assist that allowed Eto’o to slot home Sint-Truiden’s fourth goal and seal an emphatic win.
Sebaoui’s influence was evident throughout the contest, as his direct running, creativity, and composure in the final third proved too much for Mechelen’s defense to handle.
