Moroccan international Amine Adli has expressed his regret at not participating in the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The enterprising winger, who plies his trade for Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth missed out on coach Walid Regragui’s final squad for the tournament, held in Morocco between December 2025 and January 2026.
In his absence, the Atlas Lion managed to reach the final of the continental showpiece, where they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Senegal in a chaotic final last month.
Despite missing out on the squad, the 25-year-old attacker has no qualms with Regragui, stressing he understands his choices given the strong competition within the Atlas Lions squad.
“I was very sad not to play in the Africa Cup of Nations, but the national team has a strong group, and I wasn’t playing much at that time.” He told Bournemouth’s official website.
Meanwhile, Adli has set sights on a making a return to the national team as the World Cup approaches.
“If I perform well, maybe I’ll be back before the World Cup. That’s my biggest motivation.” He said.
This season, Adli has made 21 appearances for Bournemouth in the English Premier League, scoring two goals and delivering two assists.
