Morocco to host 2027 FIFA Electoral Congress in Rabat
Morocco has been confirmed as the host of the 77th FIFA Elective Congress in 2027, where a presidential election will also take place, marking another major milestone in the country’s growing footprint in world football governance, AfricaSoccer.com can exclusively reveal.
The decision underscores FIFA’s increasing confidence in Morocco, a relationship that has been further strengthened by the establishment of a regional FIFA office in Rabat.
The North African nation has, in recent years, emerged as one of football’s fastest-rising powers both on and off the pitch.
Currently ranked 8th in the world, Morocco has built an impressive competitive record, highlighted by a historic semi-final appearance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Its momentum has continued across multiple competitions, including a bronze medal finish at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, victory at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, and success at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Beyond sporting achievements, Morocco’s growing administrative role in global football is also evident.
The country is set to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, and the awarding of the 2027 FIFA Congress further cements its position as an emerging hub in international football leadership.
