Morocco to announce U20 World Cup squad on Friday
Morocco will reveal their squad for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup this Friday, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has confirmed in an official statement.
Head coach Mohamed Ouahbi is set to announce his final selection at a press conference scheduled for the same day.
The announcement comes just days before the tournament kicks off in Chile, running from 27 September to 19 October.
The young Atlas Lions have been drawn into a highly challenging Group C, where they will face three football powerhouses – Spain, Brazil and Mexico.
The draw presents Morocco with one of the toughest paths in the competition, testing both their resilience and ambition on the global stage.
The FRMF said preparations have been ongoing to ensure the team heads into the tournament in the best possible condition, with Ouahbi expected to balance youth prospects with experienced players capable of handling the intensity of world-level football.
Morocco will be one of four African nations competing at the 24-team event. They will be joined by South Africa, Nigeria and Egypt, each looking to make a strong impact and underline the progress of African football at youth level.
For Morocco, this World Cup is viewed as a major opportunity to showcase their development programme, which has produced a number of promising talents in recent years.
While the challenge of facing Brazil, Spain and Mexico is considerable, the team remains determined to compete with belief and discipline.
The final squad announcement on Friday is expected to generate significant interest, as attention turns to which players Ouahbi will entrust with carrying Morocco’s hopes in Chile.
